When a young man, Jerome Cardy, is found beaten to death by a fellow inmate in a jail cell, it's thought to be a terrible accident. But Gabriel Ash, who was in the same jail, can't stop thinking of the cryptic conversation he had with Jerome just before he was killed. Ash is convinced that Jerome was murdered. Unfortunately, Ash isn't considered to be the most reliable witness. In fact, he is know about town as being a bit unstable. Undeterred, Ash is determined to find out what happened to Jerome.
