Find more profit in the margins
The significance of the printed book in our everyday lives is rapidly evolving. With the advance of smartphones, tablets and e Readers, the pressure is on to maintain physical books as a viable retail product. But while we watch the changes with a mix of excitement and reservation, we are still seeing a strong consumer demand. We can be confident that booklovers will never lose the appreciation for the tactile experience of the printed book.
With this evolving book market, we also see retailers looking for ways to improve profitability anywhere they can. We can help. We’ve made it our mission to save retailers time and money so that they can maximize their margins when selling their books.
Our massive inventory of bargain books is housed in a 450,000 sq. ft. automated warehouse. With our advanced systems and dedicated staff we are able to find your books and process orders faster than any other book wholesaler.
For many retailers, the vast selection and fast processing times make us a valuable one-stop purchasing shop, cutting down on their overhead costs like shipping, receiving and administration.
The fact is, buying books can be expensive, especially if you like to read a lot! Our books are new and we offer them at huge discounts off the original list price. How do we manage that? Here’s the secret: our books are marked down because most of the titles are marked with a small line or dot on the edge of the book by publishers who sell us their returns and excess inventory. This mark ensures that the books will not be returned to the publisher for a second credit. The books we sell are not used, they are unread and in excellent condition.
Please note that audio and visual product including CDs, DVDs, CD-ROMs and cassette tapes may no longer be in its original shrink wrap.
Wholesale is often synonymous with “no frills”, but with Book Depot that doesn’t mean you won’t get the level of service you need. On bookdepot.com you’ll find all of our titles can be browsed and purchased in an efficient, secure environment. You can easily create lists of your favourite books and monitor your orders and inquiries. We’ve got great people and technology behind the scenes to make everything seamless.
And when you prefer to speak to someone personally, you can get a live person on the phone when you need it. When you call during business hours you’ll speak to a friendly, helpful person (hey, isn’t that a novel idea) and, if you should ever have to leave a message, we promise we’ll get back to you within four business hours. If you email, a customer service representative will respond to your inquiry within eight business hours.
Once a paper mill, our Thorold facility has been completely renovated to house a massive system of constantly receiving, processing and selling books. We employ approximately 250 staff to ensure new titles are accessible to you as soon as possible. Processing new stock happens so quickly here that by the time you’re done browsing our online store, new books have usually been added!
